- The title character's name is taken from Capt.
Nemo, a character in 20,000
Leagues Under the Sea (1869) by Jules Verne.
- Odysseus proclaims to the cyclops of Homer's poem
that he is, "Nemo", translated this means "nobody". The hero of
this Greek poem is then able to blind the cyclops and make his escape
leaving the, now blinded cyclops to lament that "nobody" has harmed him.
- The release of this film started a craze for
clownfish. Pet stores reported drastically increased demand for
clownfish, the species of Nemo and his father Marlin.
- This film had the highest opening weekend for an
animated film at the time of it's release.
- The film references the Wallace and Gromit series
in a number of places.
